Creme Brulee – More

So what does Crème Brûlée mean?
The word is French and translates to: burnt cream. The dish is a deceptively simple dessert- made primarily with a rich vanilla flavored custard base with a upper layer of hard caramelized sugar that tops the dish.
A creme brulee torch – a type of mini propane powered blow torch is used to caramelize the upper layer – and give the dessert a glazed finished look.
Finally, the dish is served cold – garnished with fruit or liquer or greenery. This dessert is most often served in its own ceramic ramekin.
